High Search Engine Ranking in Three Very Basic Steps

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

We all want to have a high search engine ranking, but most of us either don’t have the time to spend hours devoted to SEO, or the money to pay someone to do it for us.  But what the majority don’t realize is that there are some very simple things you can do to help in getting you that high search engine ranking.  Here are three easy things that anyone can do to get that high search engine ranking without having to invest a lot of time or spend a large amount of money.

The very first thing you can do to make certain you get a high search engine ranking is to make sure that all your alt-tags are properly named.  While your users don’t see these tags for images and graphics, the search websites do.  And since the search sites can’t see your pictures or graphics, the alt tags are all they must go by.  So if you name an image picture1.jpg, it does nothing for your SEO and can’t help get you a high search engine ranking.  But if you names that image with one of your keywords, it would help the search site bots rank you higher on your targeted keywords.

The second straightforward thing that you can do to get a high search engine ranking is to have a site map, and to make sure to keep it current.  Site maps are excellent for getting a high search engine ranking because it permits the search website robots that crawl your page to get all of the information they want all in one place.  But beyond having a recent site map, you want to make sure that you submit it to Google.  And you want to resubmit it each time you revise your internet site or add pages.

The final simple thing that you can do to get a high search engine ranking is one thing folk rarely think of apropos your SEO, but it probably the most significant thing of all, is to have good quality content on your website.  Your content needs to be aimed at your centered audience, not only for the search engine automated bots so you can get a high search engine ranking.  Putting keyword-laden, poor-quality content on your website may work in the short term, but both the search engines and the users will figure out what you’ve been up to.  Putting highquality content up on your website with the suitable word density is the best way to get a high search engine ranking and keep it.
