STRANGE CRIME STORIES

AMERICAN PIE GOES COUNRTY

Teen caught having sex with horse on CCTV
A US teenager has been arrested after he was caught on video having sex with a horse in a barn. The owners of the barn in Corvallis, Oregon, had installed the video surveillance camera after previous assaults on the horse, reports the Corvallis Gazette-Times. They were shocked to see footage of the teen sexually assaulting the mare when they checked the video in February.

Deputy Clay Stephens, who viewed the video, said the youth seemed very practiced, not hurried but not wasting any time. He seemed to be following a "very concise, deliberate, well-thought-out plan".

The owners then installed a silent alarm in the barn which sounded in their house at about 2.30am on June 7.
They checked the video monitor, saw the teenager preparing to assault the horse again, and called the sheriff's office.
Police officers rushed to the scene and arrested the teenager who was charged with burglary and sexual abuse of an animal.

Robin Hood bank manager

A German bank manager has been jailed after he took £1.5m from rich clients' accounts and moved it to clients struggling with debts. Bespectacled and balding, Peter Taubinger, 45, hardly fit the typical image of the glamorous hero robbing the rich to feed the poor.
But under his management, large sums were transferred from the bank, in the small town of Tauberfranken, after he decided poor people needed it more than the rich. His efforts meant single mothers, pensioners, and even a young man made jobless by ill health suddenly found thousands of pounds credited to their accounts.

But he turned himself in after he realised he could not cover up what he had done any longer, and has now been sentenced to 34 months in prison on 168 counts of embezzlement. Bauer said: "I felt for the unemployed and the poor and wanted to help them."

Man 'shot wife's PC'

A US man allegedly shot his wife's computer after he caught her chatting to other men on MySpace. Jason Griffith, 23, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was arrested on charges including reckless endangerment, terrorist threats and harassment. Police allege he fired a single .40-calibre bullet into his wife's computer tower after a 2am argument in their bedroom, reports the Times Tribune. After returning home in the early hours, Mr Griffith allegedly became angry that his wife was chatting with men on MySpace. Police say he dragged her upstairs, shot the computer and fired another bullet into the floor. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Loo roll bandit faces jail

An Iowa woman called Butts faces up to two years in jail - for stealing toilet paper from a courthouse. Police say Suzanne Marie Butts was caught red-handed stealing three rolls of loo paper from the Marshall County Courthouse. Marshalltown Police Chief Lon Walker told the Times-Republican: "A courthouse employee saw her walk from a storeroom carrying a bag of toilet paper." Because of prior convictions, Butts faces up to two years in prison. Supervisor Gordie Johnson said: "We have three strikes and you're out and I consider each roll of toilet paper a strike."

Prisoners escape during Champions League clash

Five Romanian prisoners managed to escape while guards were watching Champions League football.

They cut the bars of their first floor cell window with a hacksaw blade during the match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

To cover the noise, they turned the TV up loud before the match started then began the escape operation when the match started. They escaped immediately after half-time.

All five men, who were aged 17 to 19, were caught half an hour after leaving the prison in Craiova, Dolj county.

They now face supplementary sentences of up to four years while the guards are being investigated by their superiors.
